Depending on the practitioner, treatments can be given while the client is lying on a massage table or even while they are seated or standing. Unlike massages, the client remains fully clothed and the treatment begins. The practitioner places their hands near or on the client's body in a variety of hand positions. Specific positions can be requested or used based on certain needs of the client, however the average positions vary around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Each of these positions are held for 3-10 minutes or more depending on how much Reiki energy the client needs at each position. This whole treatment lasts between 45 to 90 minutes.
